Captain Tom is the real deal. He’s a experienced Key West guide who’s laid-back and easy to get along with in the boat. Plenty of fun Key West stories and loads of local fishing knowledge. I highly recommend booking a trip with him.
Coming from frozen Boston, I would’ve been happy to put just one fish in the boat on February 16th. I honestly lost track of the number of fish we brought in – yellowtail snapper, gray snapper, mangrove snapper, blue runners, Spanish mackerel and horse-eyed jacks. One of the highlights of the trip was hooking up with a black grouper. Captain Tom took the time to point out the other wildlife (birds, dolphins and sea turtles) and explained how the backcountry flats fishing worked.
I had a great time and I’m sure you will too. By the way, his recommendations on Key West restaurants and music spots are right on the mark, too.
