As we get into mid-summer the temps rise and the wind dies down – the fishing slows down on the Gulf side and the backcountry as the water temps hit the high 80’s. The fishing turns to the deeper, cooler water on the Atlantic side – trolling the Gulf Stream and fishing the deeper reefs and shipwrecks. The fun stuff in the backcountry leans more to snorkeling and lobstering the shallow reefs and shipwrecks. Despite the Tropical storm passing through Key West on Monday – the water is warm and the visibility is great.
Most people are finding their limit of lobster and are enjoying the reef and snorkeling with the tropical fish. The water is warm but it is still cooler than on land!
